THIS IS THE MOST POWERFUL EXPERIENCE OF THE EASTER LITURGY & the whole liturgical year AND CAN HELP US ALL. Fr Danny a young parish priest of Clifton Diocese died on Thursday evening after a  heart attack. As a seminarian in 1999 he spent the summer period helping in the Catholic Chaplaincy work on Campus. We pray for him and his family at this time. May he rest in Peace. Amen.

THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS

On Fridays during Lent we hold THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS IN ECUMENICAL CHAPLAINCY CENTRE at 13.15pm. People can meet in the Prayer Corner with whoever can manage to come. The Stations of the Cross last FOR 15-20 MINS – ALL WELCOME. This can be a lay-led prayer and can happen whether Fr.Bill is present or not. Even if you can’t come every week, drop in sometimes. Numbers present do not matter. It is a very simple witness to OUR FAITH AND CAN BE VERY APOSTOLIC.

REMEMBERING SICK & INFIRM FRIENDS

We pray for all the sick known to us, especially Esmé Griffin and others among the community of the University and our families and for those who care for them.

Used Stamps for the Missions Please save or send any used stamp for:- St Patrick’s Missionary Society (Kiltegan Fathers), 20 Beauchamp Road, East Molesey, Surrey KT8 0PA and ensure that you tear  off a good corner of envelope around the stamp. Do not cut close to the stamp or it means they lose value. The money raised can help spread the Faith.

All are always welcome to help prepare the music and arrangements for the following Sunday’s Liturgy. Contact Music group after Holy Mass today. Please help with practical  tasks!

BATH CATHOLIC YOUTH: ‘Fun, Films & Faith Nights’ on Sundays [after the 6.30-pm Holy Mass @ St.John’s] in the Catholic Chaplaincy Centre in Bath  @ 7.30pm Films of Catholic interest and for a little relaxation & conversation at the weekend.. If you have thoughts about what to suggest we might show, have a word with our film buff, Mark Price or members of Cathsoc Committee.

This Sunday 18th  MARCH: we will have a ‘The Gospel according to Matthew’ Directed by Pasolini in which our film guide suggests:

“The birth, life, teachings and death on the Cross of Jesus Christ presented almost as a cinema-verité documentary. Applying Neo-Realist methods, writer/director Pier Paolo Pasolini takes Christ out of the opulent church and presents him as an outcast Italian peasant in this expressive interpretation of the greatest story ever told. “The soundtrack - Prokofiev, Bach, Mozart and even Billie Holiday - surprises us but can be off-putting, considering the naturalism elsewhere. What Pasolini clearly wanted was a believable gospel, armed with real people, and the glories of the music sometimes work against this, since sublimity is not what Pasolini had in mind. He did say, however, that he was not interested in deconsecrating: ‘That is  fashion I hate. I want to 'reconsecrate' as much as possible’."

During the remaining days of Lent make time to review your life and make some fresh starts by:- doing penance by abstinence and other efforts and giving Lenten Alms to some favourite charity as a result of our sacrifices and penances.

A good Lenten discipline would be when we are in church, to deepen our respect for the Blessed Sacrament (reserved outside the times of Holy Mass) in the Tabernacle in our churches!
