Father Bill, OSM reminds you of ‘Films, Fun, & Faith Nights’ [held after the 6.30-pm Holy Mass @ St.John’s Church] in the Catholic Chaplaincy Centre [CCC] in Bath

On Sunday 13th April @ 7.30pm
Students & friends are invited to watch a private showing of Al Gore’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ on global warning - claimed as a ‘must see’ documentary. A film about current concerns of Catholic and wider interest. It’s a great way to unwind at the end of a tiring week with a little relaxation & conversation. Bring & Share refreshments.

Cathsoc’s Film buff says "'An Inconvenient Truth' won the best Oscar for a documentary in 2007. The film is based on Al Gore's campaign to stop global warming. The movie covers how this is always been part of Al Gore's political agenda right from the beginning of his political career when global warming was not the important issue it is today. Al Gore draws hope from the effect the anti-tobacco lobby had on his own family. His family used to farm tobacco and have now diversified due to the changing political climate and he feels that the average American can change to so that they can defeat climate change."

Our next film on 18th May @ 7.30pm is "Chariots of Fire":
The story, told in flashback, of two young British sprinters competing for fame in the 1924 Olympics. Eric, a devout Scottish missionary runs because he knows it must please God. Harold, the son of a newly rich Jew runs to prove his place in Cambridge society. In a warmup 100 meter race, Eric defeats Harold, who hires a pro trainer to prepare him. Eric, whose qualifying heat is scheduled for a Sunday, refuses to run despite pressure from the Olympic committee. A compromise is reached when a nobleman allows Eric to compete in his 400 meter slot. Eric and Harold win their respective races and go on to achieve fame as missionary and businessman/athletic advocate, respectively.
