Lots of opportunities for Confession during Advent

Picture

There was a Penitenial Service on U of Bath Campus on Thursday 29th November from 6.30pm with Father Bill OSM and other priests to hear private confessions. If you missed it, then try to arrange a time with Father Bill or another priest in the City or at home, to share in the Sacrament of Forgiveness and Reconciliation.

Or ask to see Father Bill OSM before or after Sunday Holy Mass, Monday Lectio, Thursday Adoration, Friday Rosary or email him for a mutually convenient time.

Father Bill OSM writes “Not hard to think of ‘Christmas a coming’ with the cold weather we are having. For Christians keeping the Spirit of Advent and Christmas, 2nd December opens the Church’s Liturgical year, with the first of four Sundays before Christ’s birthday to be celebrated on December 25th and ending at the Christmas Vigil Mass. No doubt, one or two Christmas parties and dinners will be on your programme and the usual round of Christmas shopping and activities. It is a time, however, when many will try to prepare both for Christmas when Christ’s first coming is remembered as the gift of God the Father to us all and as a season when that remembrance directs the mind and heart to await Christ’s second coming at the end of time. There is an effort during this season to feel ready for all that is to come and to think of the need to change things in life that may be obstacles to a happiness that is wholesome. Let us live simply and wait on God.

There are lots of opportunities for Confession in the Deanery of Bath this Advent. All services will have a choice of priest and there is a selection of times and dates for you to choose from.  Even if it has been quite a few months or many many years since your last Confession, come along to one of these Penitential Services  and DON'T PANIC!!! The priest will help you and Our Lord will do the rest!

If you are going home for Christmas then try and find out the times for Confessions in your own parish. It is a good thing to get to Confession during Advent. It is a the best way to clear out the old and make way for the new and really be able to celebrate the coming of Christ. For help with how to 'do' Confession have a look at the Confessions help on the Confession page.
